Ekipa raziskovalcev pod vodstvom dr. Roberta Dominka na Kemijskem inštitutu razvija dva tipa akumulatorjev za električna vozila. V sodelovanju z japonsko Hondo razvijajo koncept okoljsko in surovinsko vzdržnih akumulatorjev na osnovi magnezija, z evropskimi partnerji pa pripravljajo novo generacijo litij-žveplovih akumulatorjev, ki bodo v primerjavi z obstoječimi bistveno zmogljivejši in cenejši. A team of Chemistry Institute researchers headed by Robert Dominko is developing two types of new electric car batteries; sustainable magnesium batteries are being developed in cooperation with the Japanese car maker Honda, while a new generation of lithium-sulphur batteries is being developed in cooperation with European partners.
