Description

Dr. Anna Fensel (previous name: Anna V. Zhdanova) is a Senior Researcher at FTW – Telecommunications Research Center Vienna and STI Innsbruck, University of Innsbruck, Austria. Anna has been extensively involved in European and national projects related to Semantic technologies. Currently she is a coordinator of FFG project SESAME and a local project manager of FP7 IST STREP m:Ciudad for FTW. Earlier she worked as a researcher at the University of Surrey, UK (local project manager of FP6 IST IP SPICE), and at DERI, University of Innsbruck, Austria (local project manager for FP5 IST project Esperonto and a technical contributor/deliverable leader for FP6 NoE KnowledgeWeb, FP5 hTechSight, FP6 IP DIP and FFG project SemNetMan). Anna has been a doctoral student in Informatics at the University of Innsbruck has defended her PhD thesis “An approach to ontology construction and its application to community portals” in 2006. She has received a diploma in Mathematics and Computer Science equivalent to the Masters degree in 2003 from Novosibirsk State University, Russia. She has been a co-organizer or a Program Committee member of more than 30 scientific events, a reviewer for numerous journals and a project proposals evaluator for European Commission. She is an author of more than 50 refereed papers in international journals, conference and workshop proceedings.
