Description
Currently, I'm working as a doctoral student at the Department of Musicology, University of Turku, Finland. I have been working on my doctoral thesis since autumn 2003. My special interests are musical harmony and pitch-organisational features of musical works. My research is aimed at creating, developing and evaluating algorithms and tools that extract musical information from compositions and MIDI-recorded improvisations. I have focused particularly on the analytical method, named as comparison set analysis. Thank you to my sponsors, Finnish Cultural Foundation (together with Varsinais-Suomen rahasto) and Oskar Öflund Foundation, who have helped me to work as a fulltime researcher.
