Description

Prof. Dr. Boris Podobnik is Professor of Economics at ZSEM. He is Vice Dean for research at ZSEM. Holds a PhD in physics. His main research interests includes finance, economics, complex dynamics and social dynamics. He teaches Econometrics at University of Zagreb, Financial Econometrics at ZSEM, and Operational Research at University of Rijeka. He collaborates with National University of Singapore and also with Boston University where he is a visiting researcher. He was a post-doc at Boston University in 1999. He collaborated or still collaborates with Boston U, Harvard U, , Natl. University of Singapore, University of Halle, Tokyo University of Information Sciences, University at Lecce, and East China University of Science and technology.

Dr. Podobnik has about 47 scientific publications in different fields of science, ranging from nuclear physics, high energy physics, physiology, statistical physics, econometrics, and finance. His publication list includes Physical review Letters, Scientific Reports, Quantitative Finance, and four papers in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The papers were cited 826 times according to Web of Science. Last year he collected 260 citations. His H-factor is currently 16. He is the main researcher for the Croatian project Long-term correlations in complex systems (2007-2012) and bilateral Croatian-Slovenian project on heartbeat data (2008). He gave invited talks in Warsaw (2004), Turin (2006), Lisbon (2007), Tokyo (2009), Shanghai (2011), Ljubljana (2012) and Zurich (2012) to mention a few. In October 2011 a journalist from Boston Globe made an interview with Dr. Stanley and Dr. Podobnik about their work published recently in PNAS (2011). His work was also cited in Daily Sun, and Financial Express.
