Description

This course is intended to give newcomers enough background in the field of HCI to make their conference experience much more meaningful. It provides a framework to understand how the various topics are related to research and practice. It is a tried and true introduction and has become a CHI conference tradition.

But it should work...
Please try refreshing the page. Anybody else having problems here?
We do experience some occasional hiccups though - in such cases, try again in a few minutes.

I can not find the bibliographic references that supported this research or conference. thanks

Arturo: I believe this is was presented at CHI 2008 (i.e. Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems), http://www.chi2008.org/. Although I'm not positive. I'm going on the "publication" date and the fuzzy image of the conference badge Dr. Kieras is wearing. This was not a research talk. It was an optional overview of the field for newcomers which is usually held before the conference technical program begins.

Oops. Yes, it was CHI 2008. I didn't see the CHI 2008 image and link in the upper-left corner of this page until after I had posted the previous comment.

This is one of the worst presentations I've ever seen in my life. He writes more information on the slides than he says aloud, which is distracting enough, but then he decides to change slides in half the time that it takes to copy the information down, meaning that I had to watch the presentation multiple times to take everything in. Simply terrible...
