Denny Vrandečić is research associate at the Institute AIFB. He received his Master for studying Computer Science and Philosophy at the University of Stuttgart, and his PhD summa cum laude from the KIT. His research interest is in massive web-based collaboration. He is co-developer of Semantic MediaWiki. He consulted Metaweb's freebase.com service on creating their RDF export, and is administrator and co-founder of the Croatian Wikipedia. He was co-organizer of several WWW workshops, chair of the scientific track of Wikimania 2008, and track chair of ESWC2010 and ESWC2011. He was or is involved in the EU-funded projects SEKT, ACTIVE, and RENDER and the project Halo funded by Vulcan Inc., Seattle.

He is currently visiting researcher at the ISI, University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
