Description

Eggo Müller is a visiting professor in Screen Arts and Cultures. Eggo (yes, indeed, like the waffles , but it is a traditional Frisian name and I was first!) has taught courses on TV, New Media and Popular Culture at the Free University Berlin ( Germany ), the University of Hildesheim ( Germany ), the Film & TV School Potsdam-Babelsberg ( Germany ) and at the Utrecht University (The Netherlands). In Utrecht , he is the Director of the Master Program in Film- and Television Studies.

Eggo Müllers 's research and teaching centers on the transformation of television, entertainment and participatory cultures. His PhD on Dating Shows ( Paarungsspiele: Herzblatt, Beziehungsshows und das neue Fernsehen . Berlin : Sigma 1999) analyses a genre that is one of the key forerunners of today's Reality TV, his latest book ( Not Only Entertainment: Studien zur Pragmatik und Ästehtik der Fernsehunterhaltung ; forthcoming) investigates the transformation and ‘entertainmentization' of German television in the past 25 years and offers a culturally and historically founded theory of entertainment..

Currently, Eggo is working on a project entitled ‘Popular Participatory Television' which explores old and new forms of participatory television and digital television's reshaping the producer/consumer relationship .
