Description

Fabian Moerchen graduated with a Ph.D. in Feb 2006 from University or Marburg, Germany after just over 3 years with summa cum laude. In his thesis he proposed a radically different approach to temporal interval patterns. Since 2006 he has been working at Siemens Corporate Research, a division of Siemens Corporation, on data mining projects with applications in predictive maintenance, text mining, healthcare, and sustainability. The studies of temporal data mining were continued in the context of real life applications leading among other publications to the first paper using semi-intervals for pattern mining unifying many previous publications that extended Allen's interval algebra. His broad expertise in temporal data mining was acknowledged with the publication of a survey in the SIGKDD Explorations and presentation of a tutorial at IEEE SSCI 2009. He co-organized the SIGKDD 2007 workshop on time series classification.
