Description

The world today is being confronted with powerful mega trends and intensifying sustainability challenges that inexorably shape our present and determine our future. In such circumstances only global collaboration and joint actions can lead us to create successful responses. For the first time in human history we have a great tool, one of the most powerful innovations of all times, that connects us on the global scale, the Internet. WEB 2.0 (3.0) takes a fundamentally different view of how people, business, and communities interact, with millions of people collaborating in online social networks. The power of on-line collaboration and dialogue is the core of the Challenge:future, an initiative and platform established in 2009. The global student innovation competition as an idea is not new, but Challenge:Future has several differentiations from bold determination of positive vision of the future, embedded sustainability to engaging the youth into competition management. The first year of Challenge:Future has been proven to be a success. The competitions attracted 1,639 competitors collaborating in 550 teams, coming from 245 faculties and business schools from 72 countries. However, the community reached more than 14,000 members coming from more than 964 schools and faculties from 199 countries. The competition has evolved into the first really global forum for youth (18- to 30-year-olds), making Challenge:Future at the same time the largest, most accessible, fair, and empowering student competition in the world that connects and motivates global youth creativity for sustainable solutions.
