Iztok Žun je kot redni profesor zaposlen na Fakulteti za strojništvo Univerze v Ljubljani, kjer vodi Laboratorij za dinamiko fluidov in termodinamiko. Njegov primarni raziskovalni interes je dvofazni tok, s posebnim poudarkom na mehurčastem toku. Doktoriral je na Univerzi v Ljubljani 1976 leta. Prvi je pokazal, kako polje prečne vzgonske sile vpliva na mehurčke v turbulentenem toku kapljevine, kar povzroča ali režim kopičenja mehurčkov ob stenah ali pa v sredini kanala. Bil je promotor pristopa k obravnavi toka na večih skalah, tako v Evropi z delovanjem v “European two phase flow group”, kot tudi v ZDA z delovanjem v IMuST in na Japonskem. Imel je več kot 70 vabljenih predavanj na univerzah, konferencah in v industriji po celem svetu. Dr. Žun je od 1996 leta redni član Inženirske akademije Slovenije. V letu 1999 je dobil Zoisovo priznanje za prispek h kompleksnosti dvofaznega toka. Japonsko združenje za večfazne tokove mu je v letu 2003 podelilo nagrado “JSMF Award”.

Iztok Zun is Professor and Head of the Laboratory for Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, where his primary research interest is two-phase flow, in particular bubbly flow. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Ljubljana in 1976. He was the first to show how the transverse lift force field acts on bubbles in turbulent liquid flow causing either wall void peaking or void coring flow regimes in a channel. He has been the promoter of multiscale flow approach not only in Europe through European Two Phase Flow Group, but also in the U.S. through IMuST and in Japan. He has delivered over 70 invited lectures at the universities, conferences, and companies all over the globe. Dr. Zun is the member of the Slovenian Academy of Engineering since 1996. He was awarded the 1999 Zois Prize for his contribution to the complexity in two phase flow, and the JSMF 2003 Award by the Japanese Society for Multiphase Flow.
