Description

Johann Mittheisz, born 1948, holds a degree in technical mathematics, specialising in information processing. After graduating from the Vienna University of Technology, he held executive positions in the City of Vienna ICT department from 1972 to 1989. From 1989 he was responsible for ICT services in the newly opened Vienna General Hospital, and served as the hospital’s temporary technical director. In 1994 he was put in charge of restructuring ICT services in the Vienna Hospital Association (KAV) and became head of the KAV ICT department. From 2002 to 2013 Johann Mittheisz was in charge of strategic topics (such as e-government, e-health, etc.) in the Chief Executive Office of the Vienna City Administration. From June 2005 to December 2013 he was appointed Chief Information Officer of the City of Vienna. In this function, he coordinated the city’s ICT strategy and its effective implementation (e.g. open government). He represented the City and Province of Vienna in various bodies.
