Laurie Garrett has won the Pulitzer Prize for her reporting on the Ebola virus, and earned numerous other awards for her health and science writing.
She has been a writer for Newsday; served as a visiting fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health (1992-93); a science correspondent for National Public Radio; and a science reporter for radio station KPFA.
Her publications include: The Coming Plague: Newly Emerging Diseases in a World Out of Balance (Farrar Straus and Giroux, October 1994); and Betrayal of Trust: The Collapse of Global Public Health (Hyperion Press, August 2000.
