I am part of the DataBase group and conduct my research on Query Rewriting, Optimization and Evaluation in Emerging technologies. I have been an Assistant Researcher at the Institute of Advanced Computer Studies at the University of Maryland (UMIACS) (1995-1999) and a Visitor Professor at Universidad Politecnica de Catalayna and Universidad de la Laguna. Also, I have been a Visitor Researcher at the University of Maryland (UMIACS) between 2000 and 2010, where I work with Dr. Louiqa Raschid. I have participated in 7 international projects supported by NFS (USA), AECI (Spain) and CNRS (France). My research interests are Query Rewriting, Optimization and Efficient Query engines in Emerging infrastructures particularly the Semantic Web, Semantic Grid and Linked Data; also Resource discovery, service selection and composition techniques are among my interests. So far, I has advised five PhD students and more than 45 master and undergraduate students. I has published more than 50 papers on International Conferences and Journals of the Database and The Semantic Web areas. My publications are on TPLP, AAAI, IJCAI, SIGMOD, EDBT, ISWC, ESWC, CoopIs, WebDB, ICDE, ODBASE, DILS, DEXA, GLOBE, JBCB and SIGMOD RECORDS. I have been reviewer of: ICDE, VLDB, IEEE TKDE, DKE, CooPIS OTM, SIGMOD, ACM Survey; additionally, I have been Accompanying Professor at OTM Academic (2009-2010), Chair of RED 2010 and participated in the Program Committee of several International Conferences.
