Description

Michael Yip is currently a full-time Web Science research student in the School of Electronics and Computer Science, University of Southampton. His research is on cybersecurity and he is supervised by Professor Nigel Shadbolt and Dr Craig Webber.

Prior to joining the Web Science DTC, Michael completed a Master's degree in Computer Security with distinction at the University of Birmingham. His study was funded by a EPSRC studentship awarded by the School of Computer Science.

Michael's interest in the Web came from his very first use of the Web to communicate with his friends at an early age. He was fascinated by this technology and saw that there was so much room for the Web to improve. From then on, he decided that he would pursue a career in engineering the future of the Web. Subsequently, he decided to join the Aston University where he obtained his undergraduate degree in BEng Internet Engineering with first class honour.
