Description
Miguel Esteban Gutiérrez is a member of the Ontological Engineering Group at UPM. He is BA in Computer Science (2003) by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and a Computer Science Ph.D. student at the Computer Science School of the same university.
Since he joined the Ontology Group of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at UPM back in 2001 he has been participated in several EU-funded initiatives such as the OntoWeb thematic network (IST-2000-25056), Esperonto (IST-2001-34373), KnowledgeWeb NoE (FP6-507482) and OntoGrid (FP6-511513).
His research activities are focused in Ontology Engineering issues, specially in ontology usage (access and management) in Grid environments, and ontology evolution in distributed and heterogeneous environments. Nowadays, he is leading the development of WS-DAIO, a specification for providing ontology access in the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA); he is also architecting OGSA-ONT, the reference implementation of the WS-DAIO spec.
During the last four years he has also participated in the local organization of several international scientific and academic events, such as the 2nd and 3rd European Summer School on Ontological Engineering and the Semantic Web (SSSW'04, SSSW'05) and the 2nd European Semantic Web Conference (ESWC'05).
