Description

Dr. Mihael J. Toman is a Professor at the Department of Biology, Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana. He studied Biology at the University of Ljubljana where he obtained also Master’s degree as well as PhD. For 15 years he was employed as a full researcher on National Institute of Chemistry in the fi eld of environmental chemistry and biological monitoring. These experiences were very important for his further professional development. He participated in advanced scientifi c study on Freshwater Biological Labs carried out at the University of Copenhagen. He is still collaborating with Danish colleagues. His fi eld of work is freshwater ecology, conservation of freshwater ecosystems and more specifi cally freshwater communities. He is also active as a member of different societies, in the council of the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation, in Phytosanitary Administration of the Republic of Slovenia and as reviewer of major environmental projects. Currently he is a head of the Department of Biology, Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana.
