Office workspace reveals collections of documents structured along directories, bookmarks and email folders. The respective taxonomies represent conceptual implicit knowledge generated by the user about his/her role, tasks, and interests. Starting from that, learning methods can be applied to generate "electronic mental models" allowing to understand the user's image of events, people, documents, appointments, etc. and the associative relationships among them. As a result, a workspace is transformed into a vivid personal memory assistant by which a user is supported in her/his perspective information categorization and retrieval. Moreover, users may publish parts of the resulting profiles to signal their competences to their colleagues fostering peer-to-peer-collaboration.
