Description

A range of massive online education platforms are transforming education worldwide. Coursera offers over 500 courses to millions of students around the world. The huge variety of students, courses, and institutions on Coursera presents new opportunities for research, as well as challenges in educating effectively. This talk presents findings on student population variation across courses to highlight differences in Coursera students and content as compared to other platforms. I will additionally present two case studies to demonstrate challenges in building tools to help instructors monitor learning, as well as aid student instruction.
