Description

DeoksiriboNukleinska Kislina (DNK) je nosilka dednih informacij. Vsebuje gene, ki kodirajo zapis za proteine in dele z nadzornimi vlogami. V celici je najpogosteje v obliki dvojne vijačnice. Z gvanini bogata zaporedja pa se v prisotnosti kationov zvijejo v alternativne štirivijačne sekundarne strukture DNK - G-kvadruplekse. Le-ti se lahko tvorijo v telomernih zaporedjih, v regulatornih območjih pa tudi v genomih virusov. Človeški papilomavirusi (HPV) so patogeni, ki povzročajo raka glave in vratu, kože ter anogenitalnih predelov. V genomih nekaterih tipov HPV smo našli predele s potencialom za tvorbo Gkvadrupleksov, ki bi lahko služili kot tarče za nadzor prepisovanja in podvajanja HPV.
