Lecturer at the Department of Psychology, University of York. An affiliate member of the CCCP - the Centre for Connectionist modelling of Cognitive Processes, which he founded with Richard Shillcock. His principal interests are in developmental and acquired disorders in language and attentional processing. He uses connectionist models to investigate inter-hemispheric and intra-hemispheric functioning. For a list of projects he is engaged in see his Research page.
He is also interested in language acquisition - how much information is out there in the world. This involves corpus analyses on child-directed speech, and artificial language learning experiments.

He also conducts research into reasoning and representation. His PhD investigated individual differences in problem solving and representational use.
