Description

In this lecture I plan to show why it’s necessary to ask ourselves today about the possibilities of continuing to practice architecture as a project; that is, as a practice of architectural transformation of reality. Current practice shows that the project of architecture continues. The problem, however, is that the two predominant views on architecture today – the understanding of architecture as a continuous self-invention; and as a service of one of its conditions, be this market or social reform – both foreclose the possibility of such thinking. In this lecture I will try to pose an alternative to both views: an architecture that invents itself yet always against and within a wide range of conditions within which it is made.

Comment1 Gross Eugen DI Arch., May 9, 2017 at 4:39 p.m.:

Preparing a lecture at the Grazer Kunstverein on June 29th entiteled "KUNST - im Fokus der Zeit /Katastrophe, Experiment, Transformation" I realize a parallell view on architecture as a field of permanent transformation of architecture (physical conditions) into social structures (nonphysical conditions)and viceversa. Yet this transformatioin is hindred by limitations (catastrophe) and affirmed by visions (experiments).

I would be happy to get in contact with you.
