Description

I am currently a PhD student in the Computer Science Department at Purdue University. My research interest is in machine learning and data mining. My advisor is Prof. Jennifer Neville. I am also a member of Statistical Machine Learning@Purdue. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University in 2007.

My thesis work focuses on statistical relational learning for single network domains. This differs from the structured learning scenario, where the domain consists of a population of i.i.d. graph or structured samples (e.g., chemical compounds, images and natural language sentences). In single network domains, the dataset is a single, large graph. Example applications include social networks, citation graphs, World Wide Web, etc. In these cases, an increase in training/test size corresponds to acquiring larger, or more subgraphs from the whole network. The interdependency among instances poses new theoretical and practical challenges to machine learning research.
