Description

I am an assistant professor at the University of Koblenz, Germany. Since 2006 I am affiliated with research group ISWeb (Information systems & Semantic Web), headed by Steffen Staab. My research topics include Semantic Web, Information Retrieval, Web Mining, analysis of social media and Web 2.0. A novel direction since 2009 is multi-disciplinary research in the field of Web Science.

I am co-investigator and local coordinator of EU IST research projects X-Media and WeKnowIt as well as of the DFG research project Multipla. I also coordinate the special interest group on Web Science, informally called 4cats.

My teaching offers include lectures and seminars in the fields of Information Retrieval, Web Mining, Database Systems, and Web Science. Furthermore, I offer a number of interesting themes for diploma and master thesis as well as student research projects and academic internships. Currently I am also a member of the PhD committee at our faculty.
