Description

Shiliang Sun received the B. E. degree with honors in Automatic Control from the Department of Automatic Control, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA), and the M. E. and Ph.D. degrees with honors in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems from the State Key Laboratory of Intelligent Technology and Systems, Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, where he worked with Prof. Changshui Zhang.

In 2004, he was awarded Microsoft Fellowship. In 2007, he joined the faculty of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, East China Normal University (ECNU), and founded the Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning Research Group.

Currently, he is an associate professor and the vice director of the Intelligent Information Processing Lab. From June 2009, he has been a visiting researcher at the Centre for Computational Statistics and Machine Learning (CSML), Department of Computer Science, University College London, where he works with Prof. John Shawe-Taylor and also maintains a close connection with Prof. Yee Whye Teh’s machine learning group. He is a member of the IEEE, and the PASCAL (Pattern Analysis, Statistical Modelling and Computational Learning) network of excellence.
