Description

Varun Aggarwal is currently the CTO and COO at Aspiring Minds. Apart from leading delivery and operations, Varun specifically looks after product design, research and new initiatives.

Varun did his Bachelors of Engineering from NSIT, University of Delhi and completed his Masters in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 2007. During his graduate studies he worked on developing and applying statistical learning and optimization techniques to variety of real-world problems such as circuit modeling & design, parallel processing and network coding. He has more than twenty technical publications and has filed four patents. While at MIT, he founded the MIT India Reading Group, a platform for collaborative research on India centric issues, which has completed more than 65 meetings and continues to be active in New England.He is also the co-founder of CURE, an organization which works against ragging (hazing) in India.

Varun was awarded the HUMIES award in 2006 to develop algorithms which mimic human intelligence and the AWA award for his article on Bose's contribution to invention of radio. He has been a speaker and panelist at various institutions including Harvard University, MIT, INSEAD and IBM Research Center (NYC). He likes to write on education and history of science.
