Walter Schmitz is a senior consultant of IABG in the field of CIP and military and civil crisis management. Walter Schmitz was the scientific co-ordinator of the European Commissions ACIP (Assessment of Critical Infarstructure Production) project and is member of the EC VITA (Vital Infrastructure Threats and Assurance), CI2RCO (Critical Information Infrastructure Research Co-ordinator) and IRRIS (Integrated Risk: Reduction of Information-based Infrastructure Systems) projects.
