Description

Andrés García-Silva is a PhD student in Artificial Intelligence at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The Spanish ministry of science and innovation granted him a 4 year fellowship to carry out his PhD studies in the Ontology Engineering Group. Previously, the Santander Bank and the UPM granted him a fellowship to carry out his Master studies on Artificial intelligence.

Andrés has previously worked as database administrator, intelligence business engineer and software developer. He obtained a BSc in computer Science (2001) from the Universidad del Valle in Colombia, where his final project was graded with the highest and laurate. Soon after, he received a Specialization in Business Administration (2005) from the Universidad ICESI in Colombia. More recently he got his MSc in Artificial Intelligence (2008) from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in Spain where his final project was graded with the highest.

His research interests are focus on Semantic Web, Folksonomies, Social Web, Knowledge Engineering, among others. Andrés has participated in several European research proyects such as SEEMP and NeOn as well as in national projects such as Geobuddies and España Virtual.
