Daniel Kleinman is a professor in the Department of Rural Sociology, where he is also affiliated with the Holtz Center for Science and Technology Studies. Over the past decade, his research has ranging widely, exploring areas including agricultural biotechnology policymaking, the relationship between science and democracy, the character of the new knowledge economy, and the commercialization of the university. He is the author and editor of several books, including Impure Cultures: University Biology and the World of Commerce (2003). His work has also appeared in a number of journals, including Science and Public Policy, Science, Technology, and Human Values, Social Studies of Science, and Public Understanding of Science (forthcoming).
