Description

Founder and Chairman of View Point Learning, established the public opinion research firm of Yankelovich, Skelly and White, and later DYG, Inc. He also founded The New York Times /Yankelovich Poll, which subsequently merged with the CBS Poll. He is a director of Loral Space and Communications, Inc. and director emeritus of CBS, Inc., Meredith Corporation, Arkla, Reliance, and US West. Yankelovich was Research Professor of Psychology at New York University and Professor of Psychology on the Graduate Faculty at the New School for Social Research. He has also worked closely with Brown University, where he is a Trustee Emeritus. The author of nine books, including Coming to Public Judgment: Making Democracy Work in a Complex World (Syracuse University Press, 1991) and The Magic of Dialogue (Simon and Schuster, 1999) and numerous essays. In 1995 he was awarded the prestigious Helen Dinerman Award by the World Association of Public Opinion Research (WAPOR).
