Description

Eva D. Bahovec is Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. Her main teaching and research interests are in the areas of contemporary philosophy, sociology of education, women and gender studies.

Presently, she teaches undergraduate courses in contemporary philosophy and in women and gender studies at the Faculty of Arts, a graduate course at the Faculty of Arts, and a graduate course at the ISH – Faculty for Advanced Studies in Humanities.

Eva D. Bahovec is the head of the Chair for Social Philosophy.

She has been the founding co-ordinator of the ‘Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Women’ Studies and Feminist Theory’ at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana (1997-).

Eva D. Bahovec is the founding editor of the Slovene Journal for Women’s Studies and Feminist Theory Delta, published in Ljubljana by the Society for Cultural Studies (1995-).

The journal has been awarded with the Slovenian cultural award ‘Zlata ptica’ in 1997.

Expertise

Eva D. Bahovec has been engaged in the following international research projects:

- ‘IEA Pre-primary Project’ (1993-1996), co-ordinated by the High/Scope Research Association, Michigan, United States;

- ‘Employment and Women’s Studies in Europe’, co-ordinated by Hull University (2001-2004).

Teaching and Research Networks:

- Athena – ‘Advanced Thematic Network for Women’s Studies’ (1997-2000, 2001-2003), co-ordinated by Utrecht University; and

- ‘Genie – Globalization and Europeanisation of Education’, co-ordinated by University of Bristol (2003-2005); (also as a member of the Genie Steering Committee for the whole period).

Most recently, Eva D. Bahovec has been engaged in the European Commission Research Project ‘Enlargement, Gender and Governance’, carried out in 10 East-European countries, and co-ordinated by Queen’s University, Belfast (2002-2006), HPSE-CT-202-0015.
