Igor Lesko, originally from Slovakia, has been living in South Africa for the past 10 years. Following his undergraduate degree in European Studies, Igor spent one year at Bard College (USA) in an international exchange programme, made possible through the Open Society Institute. He earned M.A. degrees in Social Development and Development Management from the University of the Western Cape (South Africa) and Ruhr University (Germany) in 2005 and 2007 respectively.
Igor has worked on numerous education projects as a researcher, evaluator and a coordinator. Included among the projects is a FreeCourseware project at the University of Western Cape. His main interests include social, economic and political development, open education, the use of web 2.0 technologies for advancement of teaching and learning practices, digital publications, Open Educational Resources, OER business and sustainability models, widening/increasing access to education through open education and certification/validation of learning through open education.
