Description

Krzysztof Pawłowski, PhD Alumnus of the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University, received his PhD in physics from Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza (Academy of Mining and Metallurgy) in Cracow and an honorary doctorate from National - Louis University (Chicago, US). In the years from 1969 to 1989, he was the head of a research laboratory at Sadeckie Zakłady Elektro-Weglowe (SZEW). In 1980, he co-founded and served as a Chairman of the Catholic Inteligentsia Club (KIK) in Nowy Sacz. Since 1991 he has been a member of the Founders Lounge and the chairman of the Council of Organizers of the Business Center Club. From 1989 to 1993, he served as a Senator of the first and second terms of the Polish Parliament. In 1990, he founded and subsequently served as the President of the Nowy Sacz – Podhale Chamber of Commerce. From 1993 to 1997, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the National Chamber of Commerce; from 1997 to 2000 - chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Non-public Universities; from 1995 to 1999 and from 2002 to 2005 - a member of the Board of the Management Education Association FORUM. From 1998 – 1999, a member of the National Council for National Reform, and from 1998 to 2001, a member of the National Committee for European Integration. Since 1999 he has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation. Since 2007, a member of the Supervisory Board of PEKAO SA and a member of the Main Panel in the Foresight National Program. He was the founder and from 1992 to 2007 served as Rector of Wyzsza Szkoła Biznesu - National-Louis University in Nowy Sacz, and since 1996, a founder and Rector of Wyzsza Szkoła Biznesu in Tarnów. Since January 14, 2008, he is a founder and President of Wyzsza Szkoła Biznesu - National Louis University with a registered office in Nowy Sacz. He has written two books, Information Society a Chance for Poland and Rediscovering Higher Education in Europe, Bucharest: UNESCO-CEPES; has edited four books and co-authored 35 joint publications; moreover, he has authored more than 40 research papers on structure of graphite, manufacturing technology for carbon and graphite materials as well as more than 60 publications devoted to the development of higher education, management and transformation of the educational system and regional development in Poland.
