Description

Martin White, Managing Director, Intranet Focus Ltd., is an intranet and information management strategy consultant, founding Intranet Focus Ltd in 1999. An information scientist by profession he has been a Visiting Professor at the Information School, the University of Sheffield since 2002. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) in 2006 for his work in information management for the pharmaceutical industry and serves as a member of the Publications Committee and the e-Content Delivery Committee of RSC . He is Chairman of the UK e-Information Group of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, of which he is an Honorary Fellow. Martin is also a member of the Association for Computing Machinery.

Martin has written books on information consultancy, the selection of content management software and two books on managing enterprise search applications. His latest book, The Intranet Management Handbook, was published in February 2011. Martin was the columnist on intranet and enterprise search issues for EContent from 2000 to 2010. He has been Reviews Editor and a Contributing Editor for Intranets – Enterprise Strategies and Solutions since 2001, and has been a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Information Management since 1999. Over the last five years he has been a key-note speaker at conferences in the USA, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, and Australia.

Prior to setting up Intranet Focus Ltd in 1999 he held senior management positions with Reed Publishing, International Data Corporation and Logica plc. In the course of his career Martin has undertaken projects or managed business operations in over 35 countries. He holds BSc in Chemistry from the University of Southampton.
