Description

Nino Shervashidze, PhD student in Karsten Borgwardt's research group on Machine Learning & Computational Biology at the Max-Planck-Institutes in Tübingen, has won the Outstanding Student Paper Award among 1105 submitted articles at NIPS, the premier conference in Machine Learning. In her paper, Nino, who is affiliated with the Departments of Detlef Weigel and Bernhard Schölkopf, presents a novel algorithm for efficiently comparing large networks, which was not possible using state-of-the-art methods so far (reference: Shervashidze, Borgwardt: Fast subtree kernels on graphs, NIPS 2009).
