Description
Her main interest is the understanding of evolution, especially evolution that is driven by non-genetic hereditary variations. She’s therefore interested in epigenetic inheritance, behavioural (nonsymbolic) transmission, and symbol-associated human cultural transmission, and the effects of these systems of transmission on evolutionary history. She is also interested in philosophical aspects associated with evolutionary theory and with the history of heredity and evolution, which, as she sees it, are all intimately linked. She has recently begun theoretical work on the evolution of early nervous systems and the emergence of consciousness.
