For those having trouble with WMP, try opening the video via Winamp or some other program such as VLC. Choose open URL and then put: mms://velblod2.ijs.si/pascal/2006/mlss06_taipei/roweis_sam/roweis_sam_00.wmv

Regarding the sound issues...

We have found out that a possible cause could be the Windows Media Player 11 issues with videos with Mono sound. If you are experiencing the same problems while playing videos on http://www.cnn.com/ than that may be it.

it seems to me the link simply invokes media player to play without a way to save the file.

Very helpful video.
I've been trying to get into this lately, but my starting point were usually some too advanced papers/videos, where I was lacking some basic knowledge and sometimes vocabulary to understand the motivation behind this or that etc.
Things just started to become much clearer to me and it gave me new ideas about how to proceed.
