Description

Born in Hamburg in 1980, Victor Henning studied Business Administration at the WHU Koblenz, the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and the Handelshøyskolen BI Oslo. He graduated in 2004, having focused on Marketing, Media Management and International Strategy & Communications.

Before his studies, he was a Talent Scout A&R for Sony Music Entertainment. Later, he worked for his favorite record label Revelation Records, for film producer/distributor Helkon Media AG, and for the Media & Entertainment Practice of Oliver Wyman Consulting. Together with friends, he founded the Korova Bar in Vallendar in 2004. In 2007, he became the founder and director of Mendeley, a start-up company based in Farringdon/London which is working on making research more productive, collaborative, and open.

Since August 2004, Victor is a lecturer and doctoral student at the Bauhaus-University of Weimar. In July 2005, he won the Best Paper in Track Award and the Overall Best Conference Paper Award at the largest academic conference in the field of marketing, the American Marketing Association's 2005 Summer Marketing Educators' Conference in San Francisco. Since November 2005, Victor's research is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research through a doctoral dissertation scholarship from the Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft.

His research has been published in international journals such as the Journal of Marketing and Media, Culture & Society, and has been internationally reported on in the Financial Times, Variety, Screen International, The Hollywood Reporter, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Die Welt, Handelsblatt, Wirtschaftswoche, Stern, Wiener Standard, and others. Victor also serves as AMA's Academic Resource Center area editor for Movie Marketing.
