Description

Machine Learning is one of the most flourishing areas of computer science. Traditionally, machine learning was concerned with the discovery of models, patterns, and other regularities in data stored in single data tables. Machine learning research gained additional momentum with the advent of big data, resulting in the need of analyzing huge amounts of data gathered in structured relational databases, unstructured texts and images, heterogeneous data formats as well as data streams. This lecture outlines some of the current trends in this research area, recently named data science.
