ME-Eng Lifelong Learning Workshops 2014

Middle Eastern Partnership in Sustainable Engineering (ME-Eng) Lifelong Learning Workshops 2014

Middle Eastern Partnership in Sustainable Engineering (ME-Eng) aims to strengthen the relevance of higher education and to contribute to lifelong learning (LLL) in PCs. The main objective is to develop, implement and accredit a new joint modular MSc Programs in:

1) Maintenance Engineering and Quality Management (Jordan)

2) Sustainable Engineering (Palestine).

Curricula reform efforts will support an interdisciplinary approach to sustainable engineering. Education and training (ET) will be open to students/trainees from all disciplines. ME-Eng will provide recipients of ET with a unique set of opportunities to develop their skills at working in multi-disciplinary teams on complex industrial problems, and thus build their portfolios before entering the labor market. Transfer of knowledge-technology-skills will be achieved via teachers training. Face-to-face pedagogy will be complemented by an active use of learning management system (LMS) for distance training. ME-Eng will establish one ET centre in each PC. Centres will be used for delivering MSc programs, LLL courses, and dissemination events. Each center will link two higher education institutions (HEIs) with an industrial association. The inclusion of such non-academic members in the ET center will: promote engagement with communities of practice; link ET to the labor market needs; develop industry-HEIs partnerships; promote regional cooperation; aid long-term sustainability of ME-Eng efforts. The project is committed to promoting and mainstreaming gender equality as well as avoiding all forms of discrimination, which can hinder the realization of equal opportunities in ET.

ME-Eng Lifelong Learning Workshops

The project parnership successfully organized lifelong learning workshops in Palestine and Jordan, hosted by Birzeit University and German-Jordanian University in March 2014.

The workshops promoted the professional courses offered by the training centers and attracted a large number of participants from industry, academia and governmental offices.
