Description

Noble metals are one of the cornerstones of our modern society as they are a vital part of all high tech equipment like mobile phones, cars, computers, etc. In electronics and catalysis, noble metals are crucial components because of their unique functional properties. For instance, their electrocatalytic behavior is being used for the efficient conversion of renewable energy. However, their nanoscale behavior, especially stability, is still not completely understood. Technical advancement of the instrumentation techniques like transmission electron microscopy allows new sub-atomic insights. By coupling well-known nanofabrication and advanced electrochemical characterization techniques, new scientific breakthroughs are possible.
